Okay, before I go any further, I have to tell you that this Dr Pepper Roast Beef is by far one of the best slow cooker roast beef recipe that I have ever had.

Hands down.

I didn’t add any potatoes or carrots to this recipe. I wanted just the meat so that I could easily use any leftovers in sandwiches or other dishes later in the week. {There’s a great one coming tomorrow, so be sure to come back for it.}

I also want to tell you that my love for Coca-Cola has not faded. It’s a Georgia born and bred drink and I can’t stay away from it for long. But, Dr Pepper just adds something special to this slow cooker roast recipe.

Oh my stars does it ever.

I love putting everything in the slow cooker and heading off for my day of activities without having to worry about what we’re having for supper.

I need all the help I can get for having supper ready after a busy day.

Coming home from late football practice and now adding games to the schedule leaves me with few nights that I can leisurely cook supper – if I ever could during the week. These are the nights I am more thankful than ever for my slow cooker.

Dr Pepper Slow Cooker Roast Beef Recipe

A delicious recipe for Dr Pepper Roast Beef cooked in a slow cooker. Perfect for busy weeknight suppers.

Ingredients 

  • 1 (3-5) pound boneless roast beef (chuck or round roast), (chuck or round roast)
  • 1 (12-ounce) can Dr Pepper
  • 1 cup water
  • 2 dashes Worcestershire sauce
  • salt and pepper
  • 3 cloves garlic

Instructions 

  • Place beef roast in slow cooker.
  • Add in all other ingredients.
  • Cook for 7 hours on low.
  • Serve warm with pan juices spooned over the top.

    2. I was wondering if it cooked as well with Diet Dr. Pepper. Ive made Pioneer Womans Spicy Dr Pepper Pulled Pork and it was awesome. I may try this with diet just to save the extra calories. 🙂

    1. It makes more of a flavored Jus than what I’d call a thick, country style gravy. Of course, if you want that kind of gravy, you can always spoon some of the Jus into a skillet and make your gravy from there for your rice. I bet it would be delicious.

  2. Is it possible to just use Dr. Pepper and no water? Or perhaps use 2 cans of Dr. Pepper and only 1 of water? I LOVE Dr. Pepper (Dublin Dr. Pepper is best) and want as much flavor as possible with the beef.

    1. Hi Julie. I’ve never made it without the water, but I’m sure you can increase the ratio of Dr. Pepper to water if you’d like. My only concern would be the density of the liquid. I think you’ll need to keep some of the water to keep the juices a bit thinner.

  3. I’ve not heard of using dr pepper before. I would have to use the coke/Pepsi. I’ve always used a cup o VERY strong coffee before and it turns out great. May have to try this!

  4. Your photos look amazing but doesnt look like mine at all. I thought the dr pepper would carmelize it but it was just very watery and the meat dry.

    We had to serve it with sweet baby rays.

    1. Oh no! I’ve not had that problem at all with this roast beef. I do believe that different slow cookers may cook a bit differently than others. When you try the recipe again, I would recommend reducing the cooking time a bit.

    2. Mine turned out the same as Heather’s. But I thought that it could have been the fact that I switched from Dr. Pepper to Coca-Cola… I cooked it on high, and even reduced the time, that didn’t seem to help. Will be trying it again.

    3. Mine was the same. I’m thinking the water diluted the Dr. Pepper to much. the roast was dry and no flavor. We had to use BBQ sauce also, to make it edible. I think next time I’m not going to use water?…

  5. I made this overnight and was astounded at how good it was this morning! Not that I usually eat roast beef at 630 in the morning but I couldnt wait. My teenager is very excited to eat this after school. I’ll be suprised if there is any left when I get home. Thanks for the great recipe.
