This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Quaker Oats. All opinions are 100% mine.

I still haven’t quite gotten my head wrapped around the fact that school is out, Little Buddy will soon be in the fifth grade, and that I need to make the most of every day we have this summer. I’m afraid that before too many more years, he’ll be more interested in hanging out with friends at the lake than in spending time with his Mama working in the garden, making cookies, or planting butterfly bushes.
This past week, I packed a quick basket together and we took off for an impromptu picnic on his playground. I had recently been sent a couple of boxes of the new Quaker Soft Baked Bar that we had been enjoying so I made sure to include those, an apple and a pear, and a few bottles of water.
Lately, Little Buddy has become a bit more picky about his eating than normal, so I look for tasty, wholesome food for his meals and snacks. And these soft baked bars aren’t just tasty, they are packed with real fruit, nuts, and plenty of goodness he needs to get him from one meal to another. Each bar is just 140 calories and includes 5 grams of fiber, 6 grams of protein, and provides five different B-vitamins that we both need for fuel to get us through those active summer days.

For a breakfast snack, I like to warm them for about 10 seconds in the microwave for that bakery-fresh taste and smell and serve them with a glass of ice-cold milk.

Our favorite of the two flavors has been the banana nut bread, although the cinnamon pecan bread tastes great, too.
As we munched on our snack, we talked about our plans for the summer, picked out shapes in the clouds and watched the butterflies dance around the bushes we’d planted a few days before, I realized this needs to be the summer of spontaneity. I need to include something fun and out of our ordinary routine each day to create those memories that will last us both a lifetime.
What plans have you made for the summer?

They hit the spot! Oh! A cooking bucket list?! How fun!
It sounds as if you and Little Buddy had a perfect summer day! They do grow up so fast, you wonder where the time went….it zips by! The bars look perfect for a summer-time picnic. They both sound delish…will have to stock up for those spur of the moment times. Thanks for doing the hard job of testing these babies out for us!!
