This has been one of the hottest summers I ever remember. It is a grueling heat that smacks you right in the face the moment you open the door and doesn’t let up until you are back inside where the air conditioning is just working its little heart out. Since it has been so hot, I’ve noticed that Little Buddy, along with other folks in my family, haven’t really been eating as much as normal. They have, however, been drinking everything they can get their hands on.
Recently, I was sent a box of Capri Sun’s new SuperV for my family to try. It was something I was excited to taste, especially after learning that each drink contains one combined serving of fruits and vegetables. Now, I don’t know about you, but if my son isn’t really eating as many vegetables due to the heat, but he is drinking as much as possible, I want to make sure the fruits and vegetables he needs are in there. He does like to drink our fruit and vegetable smoothies, but these SuperV drinks have a ton more going for them in the “cool department” when his friends come over to visit or we’re on the dock at the lake than my smoothies do.
I was so excited to see how much my sweet boy enjoyed them – even after I told him they had fruits and vegetables in them.
That’s what I call a win-win!
SuperV’s are great with an afternoon snack of fresh fruit and maybe even a bit of string cheese for a little protein boost to keep them going until suppertime. Another great snack option that has been a classic in my family is to make celery boats filled with peanut butter and raisins or dried cherries or to slice a granny smith apple, spread it with peanut butter and a slice of cheddar cheese for a yummy applewich.

i love lots of veggies in a chicken pot pie, and every fruit is good in a tart (just folded over pie crust)
I make fruit smoothies which are popular.

I hide fruit by pureeing them and mixing into cake batters.
my tip is to make it into a fun shape, my son is actually willing to try foods like carrots which he’d never eat on their own when they are made to look like an angry birds beak

I mix them into mac and cheese.
