My niece’s wedding is tomorrow and the wedding weekend festivities started off perfectly last night. My mother-in-law hosted a Southern Supper with all the things you’d think of for a Southern Supper – fried chicken, green beans, macaroni and cheese, pecan pie, bread pudding, etc, etc, etc. You get the picture. It was absolutely the perfect way to begin all of the festivities for the weekend.
I had the pleasure of being seated next to the groom’s grandmother from Birmingham and we had the most wonderful conversation throughout the entire meal. Of course, we talked about the bride, the groom, the wedding, the other plans for the weekend, and iron skillets. Yes, that might seem just a bit odd that iron skillets were thrown into the conversation, but in the south, talking about your heirloom iron skillets happens. A lot.
We also talked about how in the south, you’d rather have your grandmother’s bent up old spoons than a brand new silver spoon from the store. I couldn’t agree with that statement any more if I’d said it myself!
So, I thought today, in honor of my sweet niece’s wedding, her future new grandmother-in-law from Birmingham, and those prized heirlooms we all hold so dear, I thought I’d giveaway a few (THREE) of my favorite new iron skillets that you can make heirlooms in your own family.
Here’s how you enter. Just leave a comment telling me your favorite wedding present you received, heirloom or otherwise. If you haven’t married yet, just tell me what you’d love to receive as a wedding gift when you are married.
Congratulations to the following winners:
#262 – Shelly
#206 – Debbie
#159 – Mary B.
I hope you have a great weekend! Say a prayer for beautiful weather for the wedding!
