To make my Apple Crisp Oatmeal, I begin by adding old fashioned oats, water, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a saucepan over medium heat. I bring to a boil and then once the oatmeal has thickened, I remove from the heat and stir in the apples and vanilla and divide the oatmeal between two to four oven-safe bowls.

While the oatmeal is cooking, I mix together brown sugar, oats and butter until crumbly. Then, I sprinkle the brown sugar and oat mixture on top of the oatmeal and bake until browned, about 5 minutes.

  1. This recipe DID come together quickly, Robyn! I baked them in perfect portion sized four scarlet red ramekins for my husband and myself on Thursday, and reheated the second helpings this lazy Saturday morning. Add a little cinnamon flavored creamer, raisins, or maple syrup for a touch of flavor, but the recipe is just as good as written. Thank you for a simple yet tasty morning option!

    1. Thanks Mary! I found it to come together pretty easily. I hope you get a chance to try it sometime and that you enjoy it! xo
