Okay, so last night my husband came home from work and said, “Sometime, we need to head over to the Bass Pro Shop so I can look for…” and that’s when I interrupted him.
“Let’s go now,” I said.
“Now!”
“Sure, why not?”
“Well, it’s a little over a two hour drive there and then back.”
“So, I don’t think they close until 9, which is 10 our time. Let’s go!”
I think I must have jumped out of my conservative skin or something and he jumped right along with me. We piled into the car and started our quick little trek to Bass Pro Shop for whatever it was he wanted to see. Since I’d interrupted him, I really didn’t know what we were after. I was just ready to go!
Now, let me back up just a second. This past weekend, my husband and son went on a Scout campout and were inspired by all sorts of things they experienced. One of which was that my husband got a wee bit cold on said campout, so I think sleeping bags with a colder rating were part of the agenda.
I have to admit to you though, when we made it into the camping section, which we visit whenever we go to store like that, I was immediately taken away with all of the cast iron and cooking utensils. Skillets of all sizes, large Dutch ovens like the one of my Daddy’s from trips when I was a little girl, and griddles galore. But, then, standing on my tip toes to see what was stacked on the top shelves, I saw this little beauty.
The cutest little guitar skillet that I ever did see.
Err, I think it actually may be the first one I’ve ever seen, but you know what I mean.
So, I did what any normal woman would do, I took a picture of it, grabbed one and stuck it in our buggy.
Then, thinking so many other folks would love to see what I’d discovered, I posted a photo on Facebook.
Doesn’t everyone do that?
Guess what? So many folks did think it was as cute as I did.
So, I thought I’d give one of these sweet little guitar skillets away.
Now, realize that the size is not the size of a standard skillet. You can kinda see that in my photo above.
But, it sure is a perfect size for a little brownie or something.
Don’t ya think?
Here’s how you enter.
Leave me a comment about your favorite dish cooked in cast iron.
Okay, ready, set, go…
Congratulations to comment #53, MommaMary!!!
Note: This giveaway is sponsored by me because I love ya and want you to have one of these little skillets, too! The giveaway ends on Sunday, March 11th at midnight eastern. I’ll announce the winner on Monday.

My favorite recipe to cook in my cast iron skillet is Ina Garten’s Braised Short Ribs. MMMMMM…
I cooked everything possible in my cast iron skillet. Loved to make a taco skillet casserole in it. Brown the hamburger, then add red beans, taco seasoning, chopped tomatoes, hominy, tomato juice. rice. Heat on top of stove and then place in the oven to cook til rice is done. Add cheese and crushed taco chips and serve. I had 3 teenage boys so always had to add everything but the kitchen sink to have enough to fill them up.
It is TOO cute! I LOVE my cast iron skillets. But my all time favorite thing to make in it is cornbread. Yum! Please enter me in the drawing. I’d love to give the skillet to my youngest daughter! Thanks.
Cornbread just has to be baked in cast iron!
There’s nothing better than corn bread in the cast iron skillet!
I love cast iron skillets!!!!! My favorite thing to cook in a cast iron skillet is hand cut tater chips! AMAZING dipped in ranch!
cornbread! i love to make cornbread in cast iron – so yummy!
I don’t own anything cast iron so I wouldn’t have a favorite dish. I do love cornbread and want cast iron to make that.
That is so cute!! My fav is the biscuits and gravy my dad used to make in cast iron when we were camping. That was so long ago, I was probably 6. Sweet memories. He was a deer hunter so he knew how to make all kinds of things in the wild.
The only way to make perfect fried corn is in a cast iron skillet! I have cast iron that’s been past down from generation to generation and I’ve expanded my collection too.
Now my cast iron skillets outnumber any other kind of cooking pan 3 to 1. But there’s ALWAYS room for more at my house
i love my cast iron. I have family that works for The Lodge in South Pittsburg Tn a # 1 skillet company in the USA. I collect every shape and size that I can possabily find. I havent seen the one shaped as a guitar. That would look great on my wall with the rest as I display on a brick wall;
Cornbread would be it
I haven’t used one before…i suppose quiche?
I got a little cast iron panini skillet for Christmas. You heat the pan and the top piece then add the sandwich. MMmmmmmm…. Cheese melts perfectly and the toasty bread is to die for!
But camping with boy scouts, this is the best cast iron recipe:
1 can of cherry pie filling
1 chocolate cake mix
1 can of 7-up
Put it in in that order. Poke the soda around to moisten a bit, but don’t stir and put the lid on. Put coals under and on top.
Sounds gross but the gooey yumminess that comes out si a hit!
Sounds interesting, but how big is the skillet and how long do you leave it on the coals?
Cornbread, a course!
everything – this morning we had a puffed breakfast pancake baked in it!
My momma’s cornbread!! Crusty brown on the outside and moist on the inside
I’d love soft scrambled eggs that look like a guitar!
I’m new to the website … LOVE IT.
Cornbread AND Pineapple Upside Down Cake!! Even if I don’t win, I still plan on buying one of these for my husband. He plays the guitar!
Love to try soft scrambled eggs in the shape of a guitar. I’m new to your website … LOVE IT !!
I love to cook fish and bacon for my cornbread, also chicken
Cast iron skillets just call for cornbread!
What a cute skillet. I currently only own a fajita skillet in cast iron, it is such an odd size that I don’t use it much. However, that guitar is soo cute. I’d love to make my son some sort of egg frittata in it. He has eggs for breakfast nearly every day.
I dont think anyone has ever used the word cute to describe a cast iron pan – but this one is just tooooo cute – and since my son plays a guitar 24/7 it would be the perfect pan for a cooking lesson for him. My favorite thing to cook in a cast iron skillet is fried catfish, no wait fried potatoes, no wait fried chicken, well all of them are good and fried!
This story goes back to my youth growing up with Pennsylvania Dutch grandparents…and the special meal my granddad cooked up for me for an early Sunday morning breakfast before Sunday school and church…while I was still bleary eyed waking up, he’d already have the sweet Lebanon baloney all sliced up in quarters and sizzling on the cast iron pan, and with a swoosh of whole milk he’d dash on top creating a thin warm gravy as he turned the curling cooking meat and just as the toast was browned and hot on the plate he scooped up that delicious smelling Lebanon baloney and layered it neatly on top of the flat toast and poured the milk gravy over top…and would slice into bite sized mouthwatering servings…what a wonderful way to wake up the senses on your especially your pallet back in the old Pennsylvania Dutch country side, deep upstream where the tributaries begin to feed the Schuylkill River! That’s my story, that’s my memory of the best cooking on a cast iron griddle I can offer. Hope you enjoyed, and do hope you please try out too! Blessings All, Paul & Family Spohn
Homemade corn bread hands down! Put the cast iron skillet in the oven and let it get really hot while you are mixing up the cornbread and then pour it in………hear the sizzle! Then back in the oven to finish cooking. Crisp on the outside and tender on the inside………….yum, yum.
I would just love to make my husband (a guitar-playing songwriter) a breakfast frittata in this! My favorite way is to saute up some chopped fresh veggies (or maybe chopped leftover meat and/or roasted vegetables from the night before) and add scrambled eggs and cheese, and maybe some chopped fresh or dried herbs. I like to cook the bottom on the stove top and then pop it in the oven to set. Maybe adding a little more cheese or sometimes bread crumbs on top for crunch.
Homemade cornbread was made to be cooked in a cast iron skillet. I can’t stand it when people make it in a pyrex dish. The crust is all wrong. lol.
How cute!!
Everything tastes better and cast iron. Especially love doing fried chicken in it.
Glad you had such a good time on your spur of the moment shopping trip and came out with something so cute and useful.
My fave cast iron dish is Dutch Oven Cornbread made over the campfire! Yummy! Thanks for the chance to win this little cutie!
Cornbread!!
Cheesy jalepeno cornbread!
I just made banana bread in a new cast iron loaf pan. LOVE!
My favorite recipe is not only jalapeno cornbread but pineapple upside down cake. Oh so good!
Cornbread!
What an adorable little skillet. My son plays guitar and I would love to send him one. He also loves to cook, just like his mom. I love making Pineapple-upside-down-cake in it, as well as cornbread, eggs dishes & fried chicken. Nothing like a cast iron skillet!
I think this skillet would be perfect for a baby dutch pie!
