I have a confession. I am seriously design challenged. I mean, seriously. Don’t get me wrong, I know exactly what I want. In my mind and when I see it.
Thankfully, my husband is the yin to my yang, the perfect compliment. I often tell him the masters degree he earned with his years in architecture school was just so he could deal with my inability to visualize a final home from a piece of paper. The perfect example would be when planning and building our house.
He labored over plans, 3D models, and scaled models more for me than he did the builder! After spending more months designing and redesigning the house than it took to build it, the result is a home that we both absolutely love. Through the process, I learned a thing or two, but still am in awe of architects, designers, and builders and their innate ability to see what so many others can not. It is truly a gift!
That’s why I can’t wait to watch the new show, NBC’s American Dream Builders, beginning March 23rd. Hosted and produced by Nate Berkus, the famed interior designer and best-selling author who could make a paper sack look glamorous, the show features twelve stellar designers and builders in a reality style competition.
Each week, two teams will be challenged with creating designs in two separate, but similar architecturally styled homes. The end result is magazine-worthy renovations and one designer who will be crowed the ultimate dream builder and win $250,000.
Since the show is produced by reality show pros from The Bachelor and Survivor, along with Berkus, you know it will have all the bells and whistles of a great reality show! If you are like me, just watching one of the promo videos has me hooked!
