Chicken Cacciatore has to be one of my favorite dishes that my Mama would make while I was growing up. Full of flavor and so hearty, it was a definite winner whenever she made it. I was excited to try the Chicken Cacciatore in my slow cooker when I was asked by Kraft® and BlogHer to try a few of the new Kraft Recipe Makers with my family.
Remember the Tex-Mex Chicken Fajitas and the Sweet and Sour Chicken that I shared with you a while back? Just like those, each Kraft Recipe Makers package includes two complex, gourmet style sauces, along with three recipes to use or inspire you to create your own. You simply have to add the protein, produce, and any grains you prefer to use with the package. Easy enough.
What I especially love about the Chicken Cacciatore Recipe Makers package is that I can use my slow cooker to do all the work for me. And y’all know by now how much I adore my slow cooker, so anything that allows me to have flavorful, delicious Chicken Cacciatore ready to go on the table when my family comes home from church or after a busy night at Scouts is a winner in my book!
For this recipe, I simply added half of the Lemon Oregano simmer sauce to the bottom of my slow cooker insert. Then, I nestled in my skinless, boneless chicken breasts, added my vegetables, pour in the remainder of the simmer sauce and then added in the tomato and herb finishing sauce. I secured the lid to my slow cooker and then set the timer for 4 hours on the high setting. When we came back home, my house smelled amazing as soon as I opened my door! We were all immediately ready for a big bowl of this Chicken Cacciatore!
