Oh boy, I hope you are as excited about the weekend as I am! I plan to spend my day today in the Barn cooking, cleaning and prepping our meals for the week! Fun!

But, before I get into all of that, I have another great thank you giveaway for you today! I’m so glad you all are liking the giveaway items I’ve picked for you! They are truly some of my very favorites for the kitchen and items that I just love! I thought you’d love them, too! I can’t thank you enough for all of your support for me and the cookbook !

Today’s giveaway is Henckels knife set and a Boos block! A good set of knives are pretty indispensable in the kitchen, I think, but you really don’t have to have a big set like this one. Just a chef’s knife and paring knife are the two that I go to the most in my set! But, I wanted to give you this beautiful set! 🙂

  2. My favorite vegetable to cook is definitely potatatoes of every variety! I love, love, potatoes!! They are so versatile and so many different ways to to cook them that I never get bored or tire of potatoes!! Congratulations on your cookbook, Robyn! 🙂

  3. Roasted beets with some good olive oil, fresh thyme, salt and pepper, absolutely delicious and simple!

  4. My favorite veggie is bacon wrapped green beans. Usually reserved for a holiday meal so I’m looking forward to my Easter dinner.

  5. I love to cook cabbage. I know a lot of people think it stinks up the house. I actually like the smell.

  6. My favorite vegetable to cook are FRESH green beans with new potatoes. They are seasoned with salt, pepper, sugar and side meat drippings.

  7. I love cooking with onions! They always add something to the recipe that you can’t substitute and can be cooked many different ways to add different levels of flavor!

  8. I love the toasted well seasoned Brussels sprouts
    & caramaluzed onions I also a favourite!

  9. Why, mustard greens, of course. Seasoned generously with bacon grease. Complements just about any meat – fried pork chops, fried fish, fried chicken, etc. Didn’t say it’s healthy this way, but really, really good. This also complements fried okra, not battered okra, but rolled in corn meal and fried crispy. Can’t get away from fried. Not a good sign. But I smile a lot.

  10. Since my kiddos only eat a couple of different veggies without complaint, I would have to go with broccoli as we have that a couple times a week!

  11. Love the smell of apple sauce cooking slow. A favorite of my grandson. Can’t beat the magic that comes from onion, garlic , and peppers either.

  12. I like to make syrups for my waffles, pancakes, French toast, etc because I choose which fruit at the moment to use, the consistency, and how sweet I want it always better than store bought

  13. Long ago, I was stationed in Hawaii, where I fell in love with fresh pineapple. That love affair continues to this day. There are few dishes that are not improved by fresh pineapple, and I use it as often as I can.

  14. We love most fruits and veggies! I cook most often with bell peppers (all colors), onions, carrots, tomatoes.

  15. Cauliflower, hands down! Roasted, mashed, or steamed—I can’t get enough of it. And I need sharp knives!

  17. I love to cook any of the fresh vegetables out of our garden….peas, squash, snap beans, potatoes, etc! All delicious!

  18. Love cooking green beans because they are good a little undercooked as well as a little overcooked( Southern style). I had forgotten how good the overcooked ones were until I stopped at Cracker Barrel on a recent trip and was served them the old southern style, very tender.

  19. I like to use butternut squash because I challenged myself to learn the fastest way to peel and chop one. Now I can do it in under four minutes. I peel with a sturdy veggie peeler, then cut off the round part which is where all the seeds are and use a metal ice cream scoop to scoop the seeds out, then chop into planks and then cubes.

  20. I love cooking peach cobbler because my husband loves it so much, with the cinnamon and crust (and vanilla ice cream on top.) Asparagus is the fav vegetable to cook. It’s so simple to put in the oven with Balsamic vinegar and salt, or with a sriracha/mayonnaise sauce drizzled over the top.

  21. I just love green beans well butter and sprinkled with greek seasoning and dusted with parmesan cheese. Great side dish all year long.

  22. I love making sweet potatoes! There’s so much that you can do with them, and the kids love them! I also have learned to make greens like my granny did. I always saute some sweet onions in the pan before I heat them up in the skillet. It adds just a little bit of sweet flavor. So good! Hated it as a kid, but love it now!

  23. I love to cook with red, yellow and orange peppers. Also, my sons like the no bake strawberry swirl cheesecake I make using fresh strawberries! Thank you for the chance to win this giveaway!

  24. Tomato’s, they compliment almost everything, they can be the star of a dish, a subtle accent, or a silent partner .

  25. My favorite vegetable is broccoli. I like to roast it in the oven coated with a bit of olive oil, onion powder, garlic powder, sea salt, pepper, and paprika. We’re actually having some this evening with chicken Parmesan!

  26. Turnip greens sautéed with other greens … love the slightly bitter taste. Carrots cooked slowly with just a pat of butter (no water added) ’til tender and caramelized a bit.

  27. I love to cook with peppers; red, green, yellow, or orange. Such a variety of flavors that can be added to a lot of dishes.

  28. Strawberries when done right can enhance a meal and or dessert. I like them on their own as well as a side.

  29. Brussels sprouts, Brussels sprouts, Brussels sprouts! Love them! Fave way is slice thinly like little ribbons, sautee them in garlic and EVOO, hit them with some salt and pepper, and finish off with a little lemon juice. YUM!

  30. I love cooking with Zucchini !! I make an awesome Ratatouille with fresh Zucchini and carrots and canned petite tomatoes!!! (when tomatoes are in season I use fresh !! ) Such a quick and easy dish to make for my family in minutes and without the Zucchini it would just not be the same!!! Can’t till summer so I can pick it fresh from my garden!!!

  31. Summer squash and zucchini hands down!! I can eat it piping hot or cold from the refrigerator. My mama has a garden that I frequent in the summer months. Love those darn vegetables!

  32. I’m hooked on Brussel Sprouts steamed in a little water and extra virgin olive oil and a little butter…slightly salted and peppered. Oh, so good!

  33. artichokes……stuffed,grilled or roasted….love them all ways!!!!
    roast defrosted frozen artichokes at 400degrees for bout 20 to 30 minutes with olive oil kalamata olives capers garlic orange peel ……serve alongside meat or on grilled italian bread….delicious!!!!

  34. My favorite veggie to cook with is zucchini! There are so many wonderful ways to cook it–fried, sauté with other veggies, use in making bread, roast and grill it! Yummy as can be

  35. My favorite veggie to cook is asparagus. I toss it in olive oil with Tony’s Cajun seasoning, pepper and garlic powder. Put them on a cookie sheet in the oven. When they are almost done I put Parmesan cheese and put them back in the oven till cheese is melted (:

  36. Love broccoli almost any way you can prepare it…..casseroles, salads, on veggie trays with dips…really doesn’t matter to me. I just love broccoli!

  38. My favorite vegetable to cook has to be kale. I don’t cook it as long as some people. I don’t like it to be mushy.

  39. Lordy. I love fruit..but really love vegetables. Many nights I eat veggie plates because we have a plethora of delicious fresh choices,
    One favorite fruit is the oh so versatile tomatoe!
    Ears of corn, okra and pole beans a close second…spinach, artichoke..on and on!

  40. My favorite vegetable to cook?!? Wow, that’s very difficult to decide. It all depends, I suppose. If I am making a more Thai-inspired dish, I will flock towards peppers (of any kind…especially the spicy ones!) and carrrots. But if it’s more of an Indian night, I will want to have some eggplant and spinach. But if I am making a healthy Italian meal, my go-to is an Inspirazied zucchini. And don’t even get me started on broccoli, cauliflower, snap peas, etc. And fruit? I don’t normally cook with a lot of fruit, as I love them raw, but there’s nothing like a grilled peach!!

  41. I love to cook my grandmother’s grease green beans. Sounds gross, but she always said bacon grease and browned onions make anything taste good!

  42. Strawberries are my favourite fruit to cook with. My new fav recipe is a strawberry, bacon, chicken, balsamic pizza. It’s delish!

  43. Mangoes are a favorite fruit. It can be used in many ways. It can be eatting when it’s ripe or raw form or how our family would eat it is to pickle the raw mango in there special spice blend with oil and a bit of salt, we would eat it after few days later as all the spice marry to one another. There are many ways to eat mangos as they our a staple to our home.

  44. My favorite vegetables to cook are either roasted broccoli or roasted Kale. All you need is a little salt, pepper, and olive oil and you transform the veggies into an irresistible, healthy snack!

  45. I love to cook fresh yellow squash straight from the garden. I hated squash growing up in North Carolina. But my dad had a green thumb and grew beautiful veggies. To get me to eat squash, he would fix them sliced long ways, battered and fried crisply, and then he told me they looked like guitars! Cooking squash in the spring brings back favorite childhood memories. Needless to say I adored my dad. Congrats on your cookbook. I love all your recipes. Never tried anything that wasn’t great. My family adores your grandma’s sweet potato casserole.

  46. Nothing better than a lovely floret of broccoli, just the right amount of crunch, drizzled with butter and sprinkled with salt. Mmm!!!

  48. My favorite vegetable is roasted cauliflower with a side of spicy dipping sauce – I make a lot because it is good reheated the next day.

  50. I love potatoes and can’t cook without onions, but lately have been having so much fun with creative recipes for zucchini…spiralized, grated, in savory pancakes, etc. ?

  51. Never liked brussel sprouts while growing up, but now that I’ve learned recipes to cook them well and they don’t have to taste like feet! 🙂

  52. My favourite vegetable to cook is broccoli. I love it roasted, so so delicious! Also sweet potatoes with cinnamon, brown sugar and butter! Mmmm!

  53. Broccoli! My favourite vegetable. I usually steam it as a side, and I love how it soaks up sauce. Sometimes I’ll chop it in a food processor and fry it to make broccoli rice, if I want a lower-carb meal. And it tastes great roasted too.

  54. I love to roast veggies in the oven. Potatoes, carrots and onions or broccoli, cauliflower and carrots.

  55. I love to roast pretty much any veggie in the oven with olive oill, salt and pepper. I love grilled ? peaches!

  56. Potatoes all kinds. Always satisfying and a crowd pleaser. Mashed, roasted, French fried! Yummy.

  57. I love artichokes, don’t necessarily love cooking them, though. Trying to convince the husband to try on the grill.

  58. I love cooking peppers, half the fun is slicing them up for me! Red bell peppers smell so sweet cooking down; the knife set would be perfect for my favorite past time 😀
