Praline Ice Cream Recipe

Praline Ice Cream has to be one of my very favorite ice cream flavors I’ve been making this summer. I know it is going to be one of those that extends well into the fall and holiday season, too.
Making this praline ice cream does take just a bit longer than many of the other ice cream recipes that I’ve shared with you, but boy is it worth it! You start by making my family’s favorite Southern Pralines. I recommend that you make these babies when you have just eaten so that you won’t be tempted to eat them well before you need them for the ice cream!
But hey, luckily those Southern Pralines are easy as can be to make so another batch is just a few minutes away. Right? You just gotta do what ya gotta do!
Speaking of which, excuse the few photos I have of this ice cream. Little Buddy helped hold the ice cream cone long enough for me to take my photos for this recipe. After each photo, he’d say, “now can I eat it?”
“Just another photo or so and then you can.”
“Now? I think you’ve got plenty.”
And you know, I knew you’d understand. Eleven year old boys and ice cream cones don’t wait long.
Here’s my Praline Ice Cream recipe. Hope you love it.
Praline Ice Cream Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 Southern Pralines
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 cup whipping cream
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- pinch kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Prepare Southern Pralines as instructed in that recipe. Set aside to cool. While cooling, begin preparing ice cream base.
- Mix together milk, whipping cream, sugar, salt and vanilla. Pour into container of ice cream maker and prepare as instructed by ice cream maker.
- Roughly chop Southern Pralines and add into ice cream maker container when ice cream is almost ready. Alternately, you can simply mix praline pieces into the ice cream once it has been made.
- Place in an airtight container in the freezer for at least an hour to get more firm for serving.

I loved this recipe! I made this as a surprise for my boyfriend as Pralines and Cream ice cream is his favorite flavor and he was thrilled! This was actually the first homemade ice cream I’ve ever made and it was not only delicious but was super easy to follow and turned out exactly as described. Thanks for a great recipe and I will be checking out your other recipes as well!
So excited you gave it a try and you both enjoyed it so much, Stacey! I hope you find many more recipes to enjoy – I’m so happy to have you here! Thanks! xo
If I want to incorporate eggs to make it creamier, may I? Or is it really not needed with this recipe because it’s just creamy enough.
Hi Sue,
I’ve not made this particular recipe with an egg. It’s a delicious ice cream and hope hope you enjoy it! Thanks!
Yum. Looks like the perfect texture!

I do not think I have ever had a praline! I know, what?!?
This ice cream sounds and looks crazy good and gives me an excuse to make some pralines finally!
Mmm such a classic flavour….and looks awesome! Love it!
My hubby ate a praline the other day for the first time in his life and I think he may have briefly died and gone to heaven – SO amazing! I’m all for mixing them into ice cream too ๐
