Cajun Spice Mix Recipe 1

One way to keep our taste buds happy and satisfied without feeling like they are deprived of anything is to add spices and herbs to dishes. I love keeping favorite spice blends on hand so that I can quickly add them meats, poultry, seafood, veggies, and even to dressing to kick my salad up a notch or two.

This Cajun Spice Mix definitely fits the bill for helping me toward my goal for a healthier me in 2012. It’s definitely a spice blend to keep stocked and ready to use. I doubled the recipe to have a little nearly 1/2 a cup to store in an airtight container. Now, I’m armed and ready!

  1. Your recipe for Cajun spice says it makes 10 teaspoons. Would a teaspoons equal a serving on drumsticks? (Maybe 2+ Ds’s pp? To marinade). …. Or if we’re making 10 DS’s would we use almost all for marinade? (Almost 4lbs)

    1. I would use about 3 tablespoons of the Cajun seasoning for 10 drumsticks, Toby. Hope you enjoy!

  2. I have made many Cajun Chicken Spice recipes, and I have to say that this is the best, the only difference I would make would be, adding another tsp of dried oregano, and to make it kid friendly, don’t add the black pepper or cayenne powder. I do a marinade with this spice by adding lime juice and olive oil, and if you want the best flavour, cook it over a fire.

    1. Thanks, Ronnie, for your suggestions to make this kid friendly and for using as a marinade. So glad you like it!

  3. Great mix! Thanks for sharing…..I used it to make Cajun chicken Caesar salads…..this will definitely make it into my spice collection.

  4. Robyn, I love this spice mix, and I keep it as a staple in my pantry to use whenever a recipe needs a little kick. I have also made it to give to my family as part of a spice gift basket at Christmas, and they all love it. Thank you for posting it!
