A green smoothie recipe that is tasty and full of all that stuff that’s good for you and none of the stuff that isn’t.

I just have to share with you about this green smoothie I’ve become quiet fond of lately.

Actually, I’ve become quiet addicted to all smoothies over the past little while. Each day I proclaim, “this is my favorite!” And then the next day, I think the same thing about the newest combination. I’m constantly amazed at the full-flavor of the fruit or vegetable without even adding any sugar or honey.

Who knew?

Well, I’m sure you all knew. I’m just late in the inner smoothie circle, I guess.

But this green smoothie, well, I have to tell you how in the world it came to be. I made my son a strawberry and banana smoothie one morning to go along with his breakfast. My plan was for him to have that smoothie and I was going to make myself a spinach and apple smoothie I’d heard about on Dr. Oz or some other television show I watch to hear about what I should or should not be eating. Anyway, in my absent-mindedness I had only poured half of the strawberry and banana smoothie out of the blender when I plopped my handful of spinach into the blender.

I thought about taking it back out. I thought about adding the apple. I decided to just go with it.

Sometimes, just going with it really works. Not always, but just sometimes.

This, my friends, was one of those sometimes.

Here’s how I make my green smoothie (when I’m paying attention).

My fave smoothing combo is 1 frozen banana, 1/4 cup of frozen blueberries, 2 stalks of kale and a little over a cup of water! Yummy ๐Ÿ™‚ I have one almost every morning for breakfast!

This is so funny. I had spinach that I needed to use up last week. I searched for green smoothie recipes but couldn’t find one. I ended up throwing some frozen strawberries and frozen bananas from the freezer in, deciding I’d better add some liquid (chose orange juice) and then put in spinach. I must not have added enough spinach though because mine wasn’t pretty and green, but an icky brown color. But it sure tasted good. AND my kids (except the one who doesn’t like bananas) all liked it. Even the one who hates all vegetables.

First time at your site, though I follow you on Twitter. Starting to get active on Stumble Upon, let it access my Twitter & you were one of many who popped up ๐Ÿ™‚ Love social media!! So as I was “stumbling” tonight I finally made it to your wonderful blog!

I’m also a homeschool mom (of 3 girls), live in South Florida & LOVE green smoothies! They give you SO much energy. Happy that you liked yours. A favorite combo of mine includes spinach, frozen banana, pineapple, mango & lemon juice (and a dash of unsweetened coconut shredds & fresh ground flax)…YUM!!

Want to start a breakfast shop? You do the smoothies and I’ll do granola…that’s the kick I’ve been on lately!

I think the older we get the more we eat food that tastes good once we fix it properly. Who knew that spinach was good fresh after Mom boiled it to death each time? Or Brussels sprouts for that matter, another new favorite of mine.

Without a doubt a unique flavor combo but I’m game; I need something to break the hold granola has on me!

I’ve made a version with frozen banana, spinach, cocoa powder, milk, and peanut butter. The chocolate and peanut butter taste amazing!

This actually sounds like it would be really good. I am looking forward to summer days to enjoy smoothies again.

  7. Pooba says:

I am so trying that tonight! I’m not even gonna be bothered by the fact that it is, well, GREEN!

    1. Robyn Stone says:

It’s a step out from my normal strawberry, banana and honey smoothie – but I was pleasantly surprised by it. I made another version today where I added pineapple. Oh YUM!

  8. Georgia @ The Comfort of Cooking says:

This smoothie packs a powerful punch of antioxidants and vitamin C, that’s for sure! I bet it tastes just delicious, Robyn. Isn’t it funny how we become less and less afraid of spinach as we age? Thanks for sharing this delicious drink!

    1. Robyn Stone says:

You are so right, Georgia! It seems like the older I get the more spinach I eat!

  9. Amy @ A Little Nosh says:

I keep hearing about these green smoothies and I’m dying to try one. But, alas, we don’t have a blender. I know what you’re thinking…”Who doesn’t have a blender???!!” Me, that’s how. Poor little me. ๐Ÿ™

Okay, pity party over. I’m gonna try it in the Magic Bullet. That might work!

    1. Robyn Stone says:

Oh man, you’ll have to let me know how the magic bullet does with it.

  10. Amy | She Wears Many Hats says:

I’m not big on veggie smoothies but since I trust ya, I’ll give it a go.

    1. Robyn Stone says:

I’m more prone to going for a sweet fruit smoothie, too, but felt like I needed to get into the green stuff. You’ll have to let me know how you like it.
