i am baby {Shower Punch}

I’m part of a gaggle of friends who are throwing our sweet friend, Amanda from i am baker and i am mommy, a virtual baby shower. Immediately when we began planning our shower, I knew just what I would bring – my family’s recipe for shower punch. But we can talk about the punch in just a bit. For now, let’s talk about Amanda.

Amanda’s work is recognizable.

I’m sure you remember this gorgeousness she whipped up. If not, be sure to check the tutorial on how she made it.

But as easy as it is to recognize her work, it’s just as easy to recognize her heart. And boy howdy does she ever have the sweetest heart. She’s quick with a comforting word when you need it, a pat on the back when you deserve it, and equally quick with a prayer in either instance. My Grandmother would call her “a very good lady.”

A very good lady indeed.

So now, about that punch recipe.

This is my favorite of the two punches that I remember my Grandmother and my Mother making for every shower they hosted. With my Mother’s large family and our church friends, it seemed like there was a shower just about every Sunday afternoon after church. This punch has two other things in its favor, too – it is so very easy to make and kids love it!

Here’s how you make it.

Shower Punch

A delicious, fruity punch perfect for a bridal, baby, or any other type of shower or special event.

Ingredients

  • 1 pint strawberries or 1 jar maraschino cherries
  • 2 oranges, sliced
  • 16 ounces Canada Dry Ginger Ale
  • 1 can Hawaiian Punch
  • 1 46-ounce can pineapple juice
  • 1 2 liter Canada Dry ginger ale

Instructions

  1. Prepare ice ring ahead of time and freeze.
  2. Place sliced strawberries and oranges in the bottom of a bundt pan.
  3. Pour ginger ale over the fruit and freeze overnight.
  4. Pour Hawaiian Punch and pineapple juice into punch bowl.
  5. Remove ice ring from bundt pan and float on top.
  6. Right before serving punch, slowly add ginger ale to the other ingredients.
  7. Variations:
  8. You can also make this punch more of an everyday party drink by replacing the ice ring with a quart of your favorite sherbert such as orange, lemon, pineapple, or strawberry. It makes the punch have a fun and frothy top that kids just love.

Yum! I have this bizarre love of punch… I just can’t get enough of it. I know I’d love this version, too. Is it OK to make punch just because? To celebrate Monday, perhaps?
