I love the simplicity of making my own compound butters and this cinnamon honey butter has to be one of my favorites. Thankfully, it couldn’t be simpler to whip together or to make ahead and store in the freezer. With football games beginning again and the holidays just around the corner, this is definitely one of those recipes you want to have on the ready for entertaining!

Speaking of which, if you find a great deal on butter, why not go ahead and pick up extra to make your own compound butter like this to keep in the freezer for a special occasion – or just a quick family breakfast. I think you’ll love it! But, fair warning, it does spoil your family to have all the flavor right there in their butter when you begin using it. Ha!

It all begins with a stick of softened butter, a bit of honey, and cinnamon. Three simple ingredients to kick whatever you serve it with up a notch or two.

Perfect for enjoying as baked sweet potatoes as a side dish or for cooking to use in sweet potato casserole and so many other dishes! // addapinch.com

It is perfect on baked pears or apples, on sweet potatoes, and don’t even get me started about it on a bowl of oatmeal in the morning. One little bit of this butter adds such complex flavor! I just know that you’ll find so many uses for it!

I have Congestive Heart Failure and I can not have all the sodium in butter. Would unsalted butter work?

I make this for family members that can’t have sugar. They think it’s great and it doesn’t have the negative effects like regular sugary foods.

  3. Kristy says:

Would this work with a stick of margarine?

    1. Robyn Stone says:

      Hi Kristy,
You should be able to use an equal amount of margarine to the butter called for in the recipe.

Dear Robin I followed another recipe that a friend gave me. Itโ€™s ย way to sweet I was wondering if you could help me to tone it down. Itโ€™s one stick butter
    1/2 cup Honey
    1/2 cup confectioners sugarย
    1tsp. Cinnamonย
ย  ย  Any help is greatly appreciated. Next time Iโ€™ll be following your recipe !!!!!!Bonni

    1. Robyn Stone says:

      Hi Bonnie,
It seems that a great deal of sweetener has been added to the cinnamon and butter in the other recipe. I believe I would increase the amount of butter and cinnamon in the recipe to get it to a place that isn’t so sweet. Since my recipe has only 2 tablespoons of sweetener to this recipe having a cup, you’ll want to definitely increase the butter and cinnamon by a stick (if not more!). I hope that helps! And remember, it should freeze well if you wrap it tightly in wrap and then place into a freezer safe bag or container. xo

  5. Pat says:

Do you think you could use half coconut butter>?

    1. Robyn Stone says:

      Hi Pat,
I’ve not used coconut butter in this. Let me know how it tastes if you give it a try that way. Thanks!
