Comeback Sauce is an amazing Southern classic dipping sauce. It’s a delicious sauce with chicken, wings, salads, fries and more! I have no idea who created it, but I sure wish I could hug their neck in gratitude.

Chicken tenders in a blue bowl beside a clear glass bowl of comeback sauce.

A long standing southern classic, Comeback Sauce comes from the Mississippi region of the south – or so I understand – and I couldn’t be happier that friends of ours from that area while growing up introduced it to my family.

Comeback Sauce Recipe

Chicken tender dipped into a glass container filled with comeback sauce.

Full of delicious flavor, Comeback Sauce is easily one of my favorite go-to items in my refrigerator for all sorts of things. Of course it works perfectly as a dip for chicken fingers, chicken wings, chicken legs, as a salad dressing, and yep – even on eggs. (It’s really delicious on eggs!)

How to Make

This southern favorite sauce couldn’t be easier to whip up and takes only minutes!

All you do is mix all of the ingredients together really well. Then store sauce in the refrigerator. That’s it!

Just do me a favor and try it soon. I promise you won’t be sorry that you did. I wouldn’t steer you wrong!

Here’s that scrumptious Comeback Sauce recipe. I know you’ll love it!

Is this like the Raising Can e’er sauce. So good with their chicken strips.

      Hi Martha,
I’m not sure. I’m not familiar with that sauce. If you try it and it is, will you let me know? I’m sure others would be interested as well. Thanks!

    3. deb says:

I believe Raisin Cane’s sauce uses catsup instead of chili sauce. Delicious either way!

  2. Fiona Guinan says:

My son loves anything based on chilli sauce. I have just made a batch of it for him. I’m sure it will become a family favourite. Many thanks for sharing it.

Cannot wait to try this but I bet a person needs to use real mayo instead of lite or fat free. What do you think?

    I add 1 teaspoon creole seasoning ( Tony Chachere’s)

    1. Cissy says:

You might use a little cayenne pepper, instead of black pepper.

  6. Lori says:

Looking forward to making this! How long will it stay fresh if stored in the refrigerator?

    1. Robyn Stone says:

      Hi Lori,
We go through it fairly quickly at my house, but I’ve had it at least 10-12 days without any issues when stored in an airtight container (like a Mason jar) in my refrigerator. It most likely lasts a little longer, we just eat it too quickly! ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. becky says:

Sounds like “Cain’s” Sauce from the Raising Cain restaurant. . & I looove yhat sauce! Can’t wait to try!

this is very similar to a Remoulade

    1. Robyn Stone says:

Yes, Comeback Sauce is known to be a bit of a cross between a Remoulade and Thousand Island Dressing.

  10. Kristy says:

This sauce looks delicious! Very excited to try! Where can I get a recipe for those AH-MAZING looking chicken fingers!?!?! Mine never turn out that way! Thanks! Krisy
