Instant Pot Chili Recipe
How to Make the Best Instant Pot Chili Recipe
To make my Instant Pot Chili, I start by setting my Instant Pot to the sautรฉ setting. Then, I add my ground beef and the diced onion to the pot. Using a wooden spoon, I break up the ground beef as it cooks and cook the ground beef and onion until the ground beef has browned and the onion has become translucent, about 3 minutes.
I then turn my Instant Pot off and carefully remove the Instant Pot pot. I drain away any excess drippings from the ground beef into a bowl to later discard. I return the pot back to the Instant Pot and stir in the tomato paste, chili powder, Stone House Seasoning, cumin, cocoa powder. Then I add the beef stock, crushed tomatoes, kidney beans and black beans.
Secure the lid to your Instant Pot and manually set the timer for 18 minutes at high pressure. Carefully release the pressure from your Instant Pot using the quick-release method.
Serve your Instant Pot Chili with your favorite toppings.

Aloha!
I was in a pinch last night and needed to make chili but my IP had yogurt incubating in it. I used your seasoning only (I also always have the House Seasoning on hand). When I looked at your recipe I decided to give it a try. Let me tell you that your seasoning made my chili taste like REAL chili! Needless to say, Iโm going to be making your entire recipe next time and will no longer use my old home made seasoning mix. Everyone said itโs the best chili I made and it was just the seasoning part that I used. Thanks so much!
Thanks, Gale. I’m glad to see that you keep my Stone House Seasoning on hand all the time. Happy everyone loved the chili! xo
I bought an Instant Pot several months ago and have been too intimidated to try it. I love that you not only have the recipe ingredients but tell what to do with the instant pot so I feel confident to open that pot and try it.
Thank you!
I hope you learn to love your Instant Pot as much as I do mine, Tricia. It can be intimidating when you first use it but it gets so much easier the more you use it. Hope my recipes and instructions help.
Making this right now. I love the idea of cocoa powder for richness!
What size instant pot do you use? The recipe sounds awesome but I have a small pot.
It kind of looks like the 6qt pot. ย Thatโs just my educated guess. Donโt quote me!
Thank you! I will try the recipe soon.
Hi June,ย
I use a 6-quart Instant Pot for my recipes! If you have the 3-quart, you could cut the recipe in half to work perfectly for yours. xo
Just curious, what does the cocoa powder do in this recipe?
Hi Latanya,
The cocoa powder deepens the flavors in this chili and makes it taste richer with a multi-dimensional flavor. It definitely does not make it taste like it has cocoa powder or chocolate in it and I love that no one ever really knows that it is in there when they taste it. They just all comment on how delicious it tastes! If you give it a try, I’d love to know how you like it! xo
