Easy BBQ Chicken Sandwiches Recipe

Shredded Chicken

To start, cook your chicken following one of the three methods included in the Easy Shredded Chicken recipe. I provide how to cook it on the stovetop, in a slow cooker, or using your Instant Pot.

You can also use store-bought rotisserie chicken if you prefer.

BBQ Sauce

Add your favorite BBQ sauce to the shredded chicken. We love to use my homemade BBQ sauce. It is simple as can be and ready in minutes! I love to make it ahead and keep it in the refrigerator to use in so many recipes throughout the week.

Optional Favorite Toppings

Coleslaw – We love to pile fresh coleslaw on top of our sandwiches. It adds just the right amount of texture and crunch!

Pickles – You can’t go wrong with dill pickle slices on top of these sandwiches. The bite of the dill pickles perfectly complements the BBQ sauce.

Lettuce – A fresh leaf of Bibb lettuce is just perfect.

Tomato – A thick slice of a beefsteak tomato is delicious on these chicken sandwiches.

Avocado – If you love avocado, the creaminess is amazing in these sandwiches.

Easy BBQ Chicken Sandwiches Recipe

BBQ Chicken Sandwiches make an easy and delicious meal! Made with shredded chicken tossed in a flavorful BBQ sauce! Always a favorite!

Ingredients 

Optional Toppings:

  • coleslaw
  • pickles
  • lettuce
  • tomato
  • avocado

Instructions 

  • Add cooked and shredded chicken to a medium mixing bowl. Pour in the BBQ sauce and stir to combine until all of the chicken is well coated. Portion onto the buns and top with your favorite toppings.

Notes

If the chicken has been refrigerated, reheat in the microwave with 1 teaspoon of water in 30 second intervals until reheated.
