How to Make Pecan Chewies Recipe

Ingredients measured out into glass bowls and a stainless measuring cup to make Pecan Chewies // addapinch.com

Ingredients

Be sure to see the recipe card below for the full listing of ingredients, instructions, notes, and estimated nutritional information.

  • Butter – You’ll need melted butter for this recipe. I use salted butter, but you can use unsalted butter if you prefer.
  • Sugars – This recipe uses a mixture of both granulated and brown sugar.
  • Vanilla extract – I love to use my homemade vanilla extract in my baking recipes, especially. You can also use your favorite good quality store-bought.
  • Eggs – Allow your eggs to reach room temperature for better blending into the batter.
  • Flour – This recipe uses self-rising flour.
  • Pecans – The pecans add crunch and flavor to these bars. However, you can easily substitute with another nut such as walnuts if preferred or replace with chocolate chips if you need to avoid the use of all nuts.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Preheat the oven to 300º F. Butter a 9 x 13 baking dish. I also like to line my baking dish with parchment paper at the edges of the baking dish. This lets me easily lift the Pecan Chewies from the baking dish to finish cooling and to cut into bars. If you use the parchment, you’ll also want to butter the parchment paper.

Place into the oven and bake until the Pecan Chewies are light brown and do not move when the baking pan is moved on the oven rack, about 45 minutes.

Allow to cool in the pan. Alternately, if you used the parchment paper lining in your baking dish, allow them to cool for about 5 minutes in the pan and then carefully lift them out of the baking dish using the extended edges of the parchment paper. Place them onto a wire rack and let them cool completely.

  1. Wow your recipes look so delish. Cannot wait to make ( ran out of flour and butter) lol. I will definitely make. Thank you for sharing

  2. Absolutely the best bar cookie my family has had. They love them. Very easy to make but I suggest you make a double batch because they won’t last

    1. I haven’t made these with Splenda, Connie. Maybe others here have and can tell you the substitution they made with Splenda.

    1. Shonte, you can freeze these chewies. Allow them to cool completely. Wrap tightly in plastic wrap then place in an airtight, freezer-friendly bag or container and freeze up to 3 months. When ready to serve, thaw completely, then reheat.

  3. 5 stars
