I use garlic in so many savory recipes that sometimes, it is just great to have peeled garlic on hand that I can just grab and go for super quick meals. Like a busy weeknight and I’m in a big  hurry to get supper on the table.

You can use this tip to peel your garlic cloves in just a jiffy. I love to use this method to peel some ahead of time and store in the refrigerator for making recipes later on that week. So easy!

Ingredients

  • garlic bulb

Instructions

  • Wrap the garlic bulb in a damp paper towel and place into the microwave. Microwave on high for 15-20 seconds, then remove from the microwave and rub lightly with the paper towel. Garlic cloves with easily emerge from their skins.
  • To store: place in an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for later use.

  1. I crush the bulb with the flat side of a knife, put all the pieces in two medium/large bowls (held together so it makes a sphere) and shake vigorously for 5 seconds. Voila! Peeled garlic. It’s crazy easy.

  2. Wow. I learn something new every day! Of course I knew the shake-the-garlic-in-two-bowls trick but never liked that because it does bruise the cloves. I can’t wait to try this! It’s the little tips and tricks like this that make cooking so much more enjoyable.

  4. I can’t wait to try this! I use a ton of garlic and now I am smashing it to release the peel, or rubbing it in this tube thing that works great, but your way seems to enable me to work faster!!
