Fresh pineapple sorbet makes a light and refreshing dessert or afternoon treat! Made without any added sugar, this is a sorbet recipe everyone will enjoy!
This pineapple sorbet is made with just one ingredient – fresh pineapple! Yes, can you believe it? No added sugar, no additional fruits, just the bright fresh taste of the ripest pineapple you could ever imagine.
Here’s how it came to be.
I always look forward to my monthly box of fresh fruits from Harry & David. I’ve subscribed to their monthly service for some time now and always love that they send fruit at it’s peak. Well, this month’s delivery was fresh pineapple and as soon as I opened the box I was met with the heady aroma of the pineapple. I thought of dozens of ways to use it, but then decided on this simple sorbet recipe.
To make it, I decided to broil the pineapple for just a few minutes to help the pineapple release even more of it’s sweetness and flavor. I peeled the pineapple and then cut it into large chunks for even broiling. Once it was broiled, I transferred the pineapple into my blender, poured in the juices that had released during broiling, and then pureed the pineapple until smooth.
So that I didn’t have to add any ice to my pineapple sorbet for fear of it diluting the delicious pineapple flavor, I then poured the pineapple puree into my ice cream maker. One flip of the switch and a few minutes later, I had this amazing, delicious and perfect pineapple sorbet.
I do believe it will be happening in my house all summer long!
Here’s my Fresh Pineapple Sorbet Recipe. I think you are going to love it as much as I do!
Fresh Pineapple Sorbet Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 medium 1 1/2 pound ripe pineapple, peeled and cubed (about 3 cups)
Instructions
- Arrange the oven rack to the next to the highest space in oven. Turn on the broiler.
- Arrange the pineapple chunks onto a rimmed baking sheet. Place into the oven and broil until the juices begin to release from the pineapple and the pineapple begins to turn golden brown, about 8 minutes.
- Remove the pan from the oven and pour into a blender container. Turn the blender onto low speed until the pineapple begins puree, then increase the speed to medium or medium-high speed until the pineapple is pureed and smooth.
- Pour the pineapple puree into the container of a 2-quart ice cream maker and process according to the ice cream maker instructions. Alternately if you do not have an ice cream maker, you can pour into a metal pan with a tight fitting lid and place into the freezer until frozen throughout, about 3 hours.

Think I’ll add cream of coconut to the pineapple once in the blender for a pina colada sorbet.
I definitely plan to try this SOON!
I hope you love it!!!
I’ve been doing something like this with bananas. Can’t wait to try this one, and perhaps mixing the two!
