My Mama’s Coca Cola BBQ Sauce is a tangy, delicious bbq sauce that is perfect on so many dishes from pulled pork to chicken to ribs. It’s been a favorite in my family for decades and remains high on my list of most loved bbq sauces.

Mama’s Coca Cola BBQ Sauce

My Mama makes a sweet and tangy BBQ sauce that I just absolutely love. It goes great with pulled pork, BBQ chicken, meatloaf, and of course on ribs. Mama’s bbq sauce is certainly one of my all time favorites.

How to Make Coca Cola BBQ Sauce Recipe

Here’s how my Mama makes her BBQ sauce.

Add ketchup to a small sauce pan over low to medium heat.

Next add in your Worcestershire sauce (or coconut aminos), along with your Stone House Seasoning. If you do not have Stone House Seasoning on hand, you can simply combine 1 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, and 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder for this recipe.

And of course some delicious Coca-Cola, or Coke.

Next comes the brown sugar.

And a few dashes of hot sauce for that bit of spicy kick.

This sauce works great with any meats, but is especially good with chicken and pork.

While it may not be like your Mama’s BBQ Sauce, I don’t think your Mama would mind so much if you give it a try. I hope you enjoy it as much as my family does!

I’m thinking about makeing this do it matter what type of hot sauce I use? I got 100s of different ones from mild to the world hottest would it affect the flavor to much other then heat?

    1. Andrew, I usually use Frank’s Hot Sauce but you can use whichever one you use. Different flavored hot sauce could change the flavor of the BBQ sauce as well as change the heat. But experiment and see which one you like best.

Tried this recipe several times. Love it every time. Followed instructions. Curious though. It’s kinda of runny. How would I thicken it up a little bit.

    1. Adam, if the bbq sauce is not as thick as you want it after it has boiled 10 minutes, you may need to boil the sauce a little longer until it thickens as much as you want it. Mine is always thick.

  3. Think cherry coke would be a good substitute. Smoking several pork butts in a couple days and I would like a cherry bbq since I’m smoking with cherry/apple blend wood?

    1. I haven’t tried it with cherry coke but I don’t see a reason it would not work, Kelly.

  4. What kind of rub or glaze would you recommend for the pork you serve this with? I’ve been fantasizing about honey-glazed pork with Cola sauce, but I fear bot would end up being too sweeet and sticky.

    1. Hi Silver,
I personally don’t use any glaze on pork when I use this BBQ sauce but it’s personal preference. You just need to be careful that the combination tastes great together and is not too sweet. Thanks!

  5. We are able to buy Mexican Coke at Sam’s . It is made with real sugar and comes by the case in Coke bottles. It tastes exactly like the old fashioned cold bottles of Cola from the “quarter” machines. (Sorry that really dates me!”) LOL. I never have problems cooking or baking with it.. If your Sam’s doesn’t have, try requesting it. It is popular here.
