This Simple Apple Tart Recipe makes a rustic dessert recipe that everyone loves! Quick and easy, this apple tart comes together in minutes!
I can’t think about fall without thinking of apples, pears, pecans, pumpkins, cider, pies and tarts! They just seem like the defining foods of the season for me and this oh so simple rustic apple tart recipe is a favorite!
The mingling of spices and the deliciousness of the various apples – some tart and some sweet – combined with the flakiness of the pastry crust is just perfection in my opinion. And, you don’t have to worry about pretty fluted edges, fancy adornments or anything else with this apple tart either. Rustic is the name of the game here!
To make it, I begin with my perfect pie crust recipe and place it onto a small baking sheet. Then, I make a layer of apple slices from at least two different kinds of apples. I like to use a sweet apple, like honeycrisp, and a more tart apple, like a Granny Smith. You can either leave the peelings on your apples or peel them if you like. That part is up to you.
Once you have your apple slices arranged on your pastry crust, simply turn the edges of your pastry crust up over the edges to form a rectangle. Now, you’ll drizzle on a bit of melted butter, sprinkle on sugar and spices, and bake your tart.
Please, whatever you do, make sure you enjoy the overwhelmingly amazing aromas coming from your kitchen! They are absolutely fall perfection!
Here’s the recipe for my simple apple tart. I think you’ll love it, even as completely unfancy as it is!

Thanks so much, Kate! Hope you have a great week!
I could live on apple pie or tart or crostata or any dough wrapped around an apple. That reminds me, Southern apple dumplings are calling my name too. ๐ Your tart sounds so tasty!
I could too, Maureen! One of my absolute favorites!
