Close to Bart’s love for chicken salad is his love for tuna salad. I can’t even begin to imagine how many vats of it I’ve made through the years. When I stopped and did the math of at least once per week for nearly 21 years we’re way over 1,000 and climbing.

Gosh, now I feel old.

And like I should have some tuna salad making award or something.

But then again, I guess I do have that. Bart loves it and that’s enough for me! (Awwww!)

And, with all those times of tuna salad making and tweaking the recipe a bit here and there, I can whip it up in no time flat with eyes closed if need be.

If truth be told though, tuna salad has always been one of my Mama’s favorites. Growing up, I think it was lunch for most of our Saturdays as a toasted sandwich, stuffed into a tomato, or just with crackers.

But lately, I can’t get enough of it stuffed into an avocado. The combination is just amazing. I can’t urge you enough to give it a try!

Tuna Salad Stuffed Avocado Recipe

This Tuna Salad Stuffed Avocado makes a delicious, flavorful tuna salad recipe perfect for lunch or a light supper!

Ingredients 

  • 2 (5-ounce) cans tuna, drained
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • ½ cup chopped celery
  • 1 tablespoon sweet relish
  • 1 teaspoon prepared yellow mustard
  • 2 teaspoons lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon curry powder
  • 2 – 3 avocados, halved, pitted
  • salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions 

  • Combine tuna, mayonnaise, celery, relish, mustard, lemon juice, and curry powder in a medium bowl until well combined. Spoon into avocado halves. Salt and pepper to taste.

  1. I just had tuna salad for lunch and I wish I had seen this before I ate it. ???? I love avocados and I love even more the more idea of putting them together with tuna salad! Thanks for sharing! I will be trying this soon! I’m pinning it so I won’t forget it! 

  2. I love the sound of her recipe but cannot use sweet pickle relish due to my diabetes & I am allergic to curry of any sort.

    However, I grew up loving two types of tuna salad; you might say I am addicted to tuna salad!
    the first-is nothing 2 of the largest cans of tuna available, I love the albacore in water
    & I break the tuna up so that it is small pieces and to this, I add 5 large delicious apples that have been peeled and diced small, to this I add about 6 ounces of really small pecan pieces & mayo. That’s it! We love lots of apple bits & lots of pecan pieces so how much truly depends on your preference. I suggest after chopping up several apples that you mix them in with the tuna to see if you want more, same with the pecan pieces.

    The second recipe requires the same amount of tuna to which I add about 1 medium onion diced small, while the smalls are too small, sometimes a med. is a little large & it also depends how much you like onion. I add about 6 extra large eggs that I have steamed (don’t like the green ring I get when they’re boiled) I slice through each one lengthwise, 3 or 4 times close together, turn the egg & repeat, then I slice off the eggs close together crosswise to the end resulting in a nicely diced egg. I then dice a liberal amount of hamburger dills, adding them to the mixture and I top with a generous dollop of mayo because to me salad dressing is too sweet. Before stirring the mayo into the mixture I season it with salt, pepper & a bit of garlic powder, mix thoroughly. It is delicious on toast, with lettuce & slices of tomato.

  5. Great.. Now a days here we gets salted tuna’s.. Is there any problem while preparing this with salty tuna.?

    1. Hi Sherly,
      I always try my best to use tuna packed in water and check the labels to compare the amount of sodium in products. If you feel like your tuna is already salted more than enough, just omit the salt called for in the recipe or adjust to taste. I hope you enjoy it!
