How to Make Easy Cracker Toffee Recipe

This cracker toffee is so quick, easy, and delicious. Here’s what you’ll need and how you’ll make it.

Ingredients

Be sure to see the recipe card below for the full listing of ingredients, instructions, notes, and estimated nutritional information.

You’ll need saltine crackers, salted butter, brown sugar, vanilla extract, and chocolate chips.

Optional Toppings

You’ll add any optional toppings at the designated time. You can use multiple types on different topping sections of the same pan of toffee. That way, everyone gets what they’d like!

  • Chopped roasted pecans
  • Toffee bits
  • Mini M&Ms
  • Sea Salt
Laying saltine crackers on a baking sheet lined in parchment paper.

Begin by lining your baking sheet with parchment paper. Leave a little extra so that you have a bit of an overhang of your parchment paper to lift it from the pan once it is ready to serve.

Once your pan is prepared, arrange your saltine crackers on your prepared baking sheet. Lay them salted side down, with sides touching. Then, set aside.

Add the butter and sugar to a medium saucepan set over medium heat. When it bubbles around the edges, allow to boil for 3 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla with a wooden spoon.

Carefully pour the caramel over the crackers and spread evenly. Place into the oven and bake for 5 minutes until bubbles. Remove from the oven.

Sprinkle with chocolate chips. Use the type you prefer – milk chocolate, semisweet, or dark!

Continue to sprinkle until the crackers are covered.

Then, allow the chocolate chips to sit for 5 minutes to soften. Spread the chocolate over the crackers and caramel. Add optional toppings, such as chopped roasted pecans, toffee bits, mini M&M’s, or sea salt, while the chocolate is still soft.

Cracker toffee is covered in chocolate, toffee bits, mini chocolate candies and nuts, all served on a tray.

Place your saltine cracker toffee into the freezer for 5 minutes to harden.

Remove from the freezer, lift the parchment paper off the baking sheet, and break the toffee into pieces. Serve and enjoy!

Storage Tips

To store at room temperature – Keep the cooled Cracker Toffee in an airtight container on the countertop in a cool area for up to a week. The chocolate will melt if your home is hot, but you can store it in the refrigerator if so.
