This Spicy Peach BBQ Sauce recipe is an absolute favorite in my family and one that is on repeat throughout peach season at my house! Those ripe juicy peaches add just the right amount of sweetness and intoxicating aroma to this spicy bbq sauce. It’s simple to make and always a hit whenever I make it!

Spicy Peach BBQ Sauce

If you are like me and love peaches, love bbq sauce, and adore a little kick, then you sure need to give this bbq sauce a try soon.

How to Make It

To make it, you’ll add your tomato sauce, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, honey, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and chopped peaches to a medium saucepan set over medium heat. Give it a quick stir to combine it and then let it come to a low boil. As it boils, it will thicken and the chopped peaches will soften and infuse the bbq sauce with their sweet, peach flavor.

Talk about a heavenly aroma!

Allow the bbq sauce to continue to cook until the bbq sauce just coats the back of spoon, about 10 minutes. Then, stir in the peach preserves until well combined.

Remove the bbq sauce from the cooktop and let it cool slightly before tasting. Then, give it a taste and adjust to your preference.

At this point, it is ready to serve immediately or store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

We love this bbq sauce with so many dishes, but it is out of this world delicious with chicken and pork!

I’ve provided the recipe for the amount of flavor and spice that I prefer. However, you can easily adjust the ingredients for what equals perfection for you and your family. Just give it a little taste test once it has cooked and cooled just a bit and adjust to how your family loves it.

I can’t wait to hear how you like it.

Oh Robin!!!! I made this for Memorial Day!!!!! And OMG!! It was “slap yo momma good” if you know what i mean….lol… I did end up getting the peach preserves. I chose Smuckers but after I bought the Smuckers I thought about using a more pure preserve like Polaners. What do you usually use? I did add some finely chopped onion that I sauteed in a pat of butter before adding everything else to simmer. Then I tasted like you suggested and i did add a squeeze of lemon juice. I think that little tad of butter was nice. And you add lemon in your basic barbecue sauce which I love too! Its my go to homemade sauce now. Thank you for great recipes!!! I saw the BBQ chicken with bacon and cheddar and that is next!!! That sounds amazing!!!

    1. Thanks, Parrish. I have used several brands and even homemade peach preserves. I’m so glad you enjoyed this BBQ sauce.

  2. Hi Robin!!
Why the peach preserves? I know you have a legitimate reason. I have fresh peaches but no peach preserves on hand. Can you leave out or add something else?

    Thanks!

I just found this on Robin’s site a couple of months ago and let me say it’s fantastic. We used it as a ham glaze and it was a big hit with the family!

    Thanks Robin!

Made this today to put on chicken! DELICIOUS! I am definitely going to be making up some larger batches and canning! Thanks so much for the recipe! Just the right amount of heat and sweet!

    1. Hi Rhonda,
This really is good on chicken, isn’t it? What a great idea to can this sauce. I haven’t done that but it would really be great this winter. Thanks!

  5. HI Robin I’m really excited to use this sauce on my chicken thighs. I have all ingredients EXCEPT the peach preserves (the fresh peaches just arrived from my generous neighbor) Can I use plum preserves or more brown sugar instead of the peach preserves?

    1. Sure, Pamela. You can use plum preserves if you don’t have the peach preserves. Hope you enjoy!

Thank you for this nice small recipe! I was feeling the preserving vibe and wanted to try something to use the nice seasonal peaches available right now but didn’t want to commit to pints and pints of a preserve the whole family might not love. Unfortunately due to what was on hand I had to make some substitutions but even so, the resulting sauce is pretty fantastic. I only had a can of hot tomato sauce (El Pato brand) so I thought that maybe if I just omitted the cayenne it would be fine. Yikes, that stuff was really hot so this is a really ZESTY sauce. Lol! From reading reviews I was leery of the sweetness so I eliminated the honey and then after tasting did add 1 tablespoon. (We are used to less sweet barbecue sauces.) But even with my changes, this came out to be really nicely balanced sauce and isn’t overly ‘peachy’ (which is good because hubby would never touch it if it was!). I’m going to wb can this into about 3 half-pint jars if my eye is correct and will enjoy it in the colder months when a zesty meal is needed. Thank you for the recipe and I do apologize for having to make some changes to it.

  7. Can this be made without peach preserves, I only ask because we have all the ingredients minus that one at home.

    1. Hi Allison!
You might want to try another of my BBQ sauces if you don’t have the peaches. Since this is a recipe for Spicy Peach BBQ Sauce, the ingredients are tested to compliment each other with all ingredients included.
I have a quick Homemade BBQ Sauce as well as several others – just search “bbq sauce” on my site for many other delicious options.
I hope you do try this one another time with all the ingredients – it’s so good! Thanks! xo

This was the first time ever I made homemade bbq sauce. I used apricot preserves because I couldn’t find peach preserves but i followed every other direction on the recipe. I mixed it in with the pulled pork and we had sandwiches.
I think it’s some of the best sauce I’ve ever tasted and it was so easy to make. My husband even liked it and he’s picky on foods. Thumbs up on this. Try it and you’ll love it.
