This broccoli slaw recipe is so simple and easy to throw together. I think you are going to love it.

I love recipes like that. The kind that you can quickly toss together and one that everyone loves.
I served this broccoli slaw the other evening with my grilled chicken legs. The crunch from the slaw and the flavor from the dressing I made went perfectly with the grilled chicken. But, this slaw recipe goes well with so many dishes. It is definitely one of my favorite go-to recipes.
I used a prepared broccoli slaw from the salad section of my grocery store as my based and then added a bit of onion and mixed it all together with my dressing.
From start to finish, I had this slaw made in less than 10 minutes.
I don’t know about you, but when a slaw recipe tastes that great and can be thrown together in a jiffy, I call it a keeper for sure!

Perfect touch to go with the grilled chicken!
I love this recipe! I buy the bags of broccoli slaw but never do anything creative with them.
Those bags are such lifesavers sometimes. Hope you enjoy the dressing I use with it.
I just love this. My co-worker told me out broccoli slaw & I thought she was nuts!!! I eat it with boiled eggs cheese,& tomato. To die for!!! BTW….my boyfriend can eat a bag all by himself.
My husband can, too!!! 🙂
Well I never. What a GREAT idea! Love that addition of broccoli!
I could really eat it right by itself. Maybe I should do that so I can have a slice of your cake! 🙂
So funny story about slaw and me…I was a few weeks pregnant and we told no one. I went to a neighbors party and she served some sort of slaw, I made a plate and took one bite and nearly lost my lunch. To this day I can not eat slaw of any kind. Not that you asked or anything, I am sure this is a lovely side.
Oh my goodness! Bless your heart!
Why is 1/2 of a chopped red onion mentioned twice in the ingredient list?
ACK! Thanks so much for catching that, Becky. I’ve updated the recipe to clarify.
Just pinned this recipe for my hubby. He loves broccoli slaw, and this sounds like one I would really enjoy! Thanks Robyn….have a great weekend!
What a great side to have on hand for any grilling dish. OR a great snack. 😉
pinned this– reminds me of summer BBQs!
Can lemon juice be used in place of lime?
Sure! It should work just fine!
I love the bags of brocoli salad. So convenient and good! I add diced apple, walnuts and raisins to my slaw. I am going to try your dressing recipe. Sounds easy and delish! I am serving the slaw with Sweet Baby Ray’s crock pot chicken which I have added chunks of pineapple and red & green peppers to. Can’t wait to try it all tomorrow evening!
Broccoli slaw is one of my favourites! and if you are on a budget, get yourself a mini chopper (about ten dollars) and shred it fresh at about 1/3 the cost. A great way to use up broccoli and cauliflower stems.

I’m a stay at home dad, chef, maid, nanny, etc. I like to make my wife low calorie, low cholesterol dishes as much as possible. Question: How important is the sugar in the dressing? Can I skip it and not ruin the recipe?
Hi Pat,
It just adds a bit of sweetness to the recipe. If you’d prefer, you could try it with raw honey instead.
I added a bit of EVO as it is so heart-healthy. We should all try to get a few tablespoons each day, and substitute it for most other oils. One reason to use lower-fat mayo (or make your own) is you have created “room” in the calories and fat to add EVO. Had a bit of green cabbage, so sliced that thin and added it too. As a nutrition scientist and college professor who tries to avoid refined carbs, I can say that the added sugar is an inconsequential amount per serving, and it usefully tempers the other acidic flavors. Feel free to add green or red/orange peppers. Healthy way to feed that coleslaw hunger! Should bad great on a burger or (dare I say) a hotdog? All things in moderation.
I love different slaw recipes. This sounds like a good one. You know I’m pinning it!
I love this recipe and added bleu cheese and dried cranberries. Delish!
Can you use coleslaw instead?
We are having about 25 ppl at our house this weekend for a house warming party. Do you think I should double this recipe?
Hi Kristi,
I would. It makes a good amount, but it goes fast! Have fun at your party!
We made this for the 4th of July. It was a huge hit and even better the next day! We left out the sugar, used coconut vingar instead of Apple cider vinegar, and cilantro instead of parsley. We added red bell pepper, bacon, and toasted pecans. Yummy. Thanks for the recipe!
Just made this and added sliced pealed apples. Used Rice Wine Vinegar and mayo, and omitted the lime juice. Otherwise, the same recipe and it worked! I’d make it again. Good!
Love this recipe. My husband said – make sure you keep this recipe! The apple cider vinegar gave a nice fruity, tart taste. Will definitely make it again!
I ADD FRESH BLUEBERRIES AND DRIED CRANBERIES – ITS WONDERFUL!
Just “made” this (if you can call it that, haha). It’s very good! I like that it has a hint of lime juice.
I found the vinegar way too strong in this recipe.
I made the recipe exactly as called for and it was way too tart to eat . I will try it again and this time the omit vinegar and cut the amount of lime in half.
I didn’t have broccoli slaw in the fridge, so used cabbage slaw, shredded carrots, and broccoli heads chopped small. My husband likes his slaw to be more vinegar than mayo, so I added more vinegar. I also added dried cranberries. Yum!!!! i think the lemon juice gives this a really nice zing. Will make again.
I’m so glad you enjoyed it, Christin! Thanks so much!
What are ingredients of ‘broccoli slaw ” in packet ?????
I would also like to know what broccoli slaw in a Bag has in it. I have a big head of cabbage in my refrig I would like to add to touch use for this salad
Broccoli slaw usually has broccoli, green cabbage, red cabbage and carrots. Some may vary, but this is pretty standard for the ones I usually buy.
Hope you enjoy the recipe! Thanks so much! xo
Added some dried cranberries and sesame and pumpkin seeds. Great tasting and quick and easy
Delicious! Thanks so much Rosanne! xo
I made this ahead of dinner to go with fried catfish.  OMG!  I could have eaten the whole bowl while I was making it….  I added dried cranberries and sliced almonds just because I had them.  The flavors are excellent.  Now I can’t wait for dinner.  I will make this as my go to Cole Slaw recipe from now on. Â
You’ve got me craving this again, Sharon! I bet it was delicious with the sliced almonds. Thanks so much for letting me know you like it! xo
Gotta add celery seed to this just like with coleslaw. tastes so much better
I used erythritol-stevia blend in place of sugar to make this keto, and adjusted salt and black pepper. Also used a sweet onion. Delicious!
Love this idea-Keto friendly version
I’m sorry that you didn’t like it, Shirley.
I added some cranraisans and chopped walnuts. Awesome.Â
Made this salad yesterday, was good! next time will leave out lime juice as it was a bit too tangy for our liking. I Added some toasted almonds and a little bit more mayo., was good all in all. Thanks for the recipe.
Thanks so much, L. Gale!
Delicious!  I use lemon instead lime because that’s what I had.  Also a pinch of mustard.  Definitely a keeper!
Hi Rebecca,
So glad you liked this recipe. Thanks.
How do I cut down the ingredients for 1 person? I can’t eat a bag of slaw by myself and end up throwing it away.
Hi Leslie,
This recipe makes 6 servings so you would need to divide the ingredients by 6 to determine amount for one serving. Enjoy!
Absoultely delicious!! I made this as written. I paired this with firecracker chicken meatball. My guy is so against strange food – he loves it!! He has requested I make it again. I will keep this recipe for future use.
Thanks, Sharee, I’m so glad you and your guy loved this slaw recipe.
I admit to following the recipe loosely (on the amounts at least), but this is awesome! The only major change I made was leaving out the sugar because I don’t like sweet dressings for veggies. Fantastic dressing!!
Thanks, Mia. I’m so glad you liked it.
I doubled the mayo in the recipe and it worked out great!
Thanks, John, some people like more mayonnaise than others. Glad this worked out for you.
Easy, yummy, what more could you want?! Like others, I left off the sugar. But I may try again with just to see.
I’m glad you liked this. Thanks.
Great! Easy to make.
Is the cabbage a requirement?
You could make it without the cabbage but you would have a broccoli salad.
looks good!
