Ingredients for Creamy Cucumber Salad

Be sure to see the recipe card below for the full listing of ingredients, instructions, notes, and estimated nutritional information.

  • Cucumbers: English cucumbers are preferred, but regular ones will work. Need to be crisp.
  • Red onion (Optional): Red onion tastes best, but can use another mild onion, like Vidalia.
  • Sour Cream: Adds a creamy base to a salad dressing.
  • Apple Cider Vinegar: Adds tang to salad. Can use red or white wine vinegar, or white vinegar.
  • Stone House Seasoning: My simple homemade seasoning blend.
  • Fresh Dill: Fresh is best for flavor and presentation, but dried dill works too.
  • Granulated Sugar (Optional): If you prefer a slightly sweeter taste.

Ingredient Swaps:

  • Lighter/More Protein: Use Greek yogurt instead of sour cream.
  • Herb Variation: Use fresh parsley instead of dill.
  • Gluten-Free: It is naturally gluten-free.

Recipe Success Tips

  1. Thin Slices: Fresh, crisp cucumbers, thinly sliced. Use a mandoline if needed.
  2. Fresh Dill: Fresh is best, but dried works in a pinch.
  3. Chill: Letting it chill and rest helps flavors meld together deliciously.
  4. Make Ahead: Best made 2-4 hours ahead. Storing it for longer may impact the crispness of the cucumbers.

Storage Instructions

  • Store: Refrigerate in an airtight container for 2-3 days.
  • Do NOT Freeze: Cucumbers do not freeze well; they become watery.
