Spicy Roasted Sweet Potato Wedges make an easy and delicious recipe! Made with just five ingredients, these roasted sweet potatoes will definitely become a favorite!
If you enjoy any recipe with a sweet potato like my family does, I know you are going to love this Spicy Sweet Potato Wedges recipe! They are so easy to make and yet they have a little extra something special over a regular roasted recipe. And I think the little bit of spiciness with the delicious cool and creamy Avocado Dip make this dish a winner!
Sweet potatoes of all kinds have always been favorites in my house, especially for my son, Sam. Some time ago I was looking through one of his memory boxes for a childhood photo and found a list of his favorite foods when he was little tike. And of course, this famous potato was one of them. I have to say I went down a sentimental path and didn’t stop looking with the list of favorite foods, but mamas do that, don’t we?!
I’ve made roasted sweet potatoes forever it seems, but several years ago, I started making these Spicy Sweet Potato Wedges with the Avocado Dip and they are most certainly one of our family favorites! They make the perfect side dish to so many main dishes like Skillet Ribeye Steaks, Pulled Pork Sandwiches , Baked Chicken and more. And I even enjoy these all on their own with that delicious dip.
Spicy Sweet Potato Wedges
So, let’s talk more about these spicy wedges. It only takes a few ingredients to make them.
How to Make Them
First, you will preheat your oven to 450 degrees.
To make them, I start with a few medium sweet potatoes scrub them clean. I prefer to leave the skins on them, but if you would like you can peel them. I then cut the potatoes in half, then cut each of the halves into four wedges. So, for each potato, you will get eight wedges.
Then I put the cut wedges onto a rimmed baking sheet and drizzle them with olive oil (you can also use melted coconut oil, if you prefer). Sprinkle the wedges with salt, pepper, and chili powder. Adjust the spiciness to your individual preference by adding more or less chili powder.
Now give the wedges a good toss to make sure they are all well coated with the oil and the seasonings. Place them into the oven to roast.
You’ll want to roast them until they begin to brown, the outside becomes crispy and the inside is fork tender. This takes about 25 minutes. If you like them crispier, you can roast a bit longer.
Once they are done, just remove them from the oven and serve! While they are delicious all on their own, I love serving with this amazing avocado dip. The flavors and textures compliment each other perfectly and make such a delicious dish.
Here’s my Spicy Sweet Potato Wedges Recipe. I hope you love them as much as my family does!
