Be sure to see the recipe card below for the full listing of ingredients, instructions, notes, and estimated nutritional information.

Classic Pigs in a Blanket Ingredients

  • Cocktail sausages
  • Crescent rolls

Step-by-Step Instructions

Prep. Preheat the oven to 400º F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside. Remove the crescent rolls from the package and separate the triangles at the perforations. Use a sharp knife and cut the triangles into three smaller triangles. Melt the butter and stir in the Stone House Seasoning.

Assemble. Add the cocktail sausages to the widest end of the crescent roll triangle and roll to the tip. Place onto the prepared baking sheet with the tip side facing up. Repeat until all of the pigs in a blanket are assembled.

Brush. Brush each of the pigs in a blanket with the butter mixture.

Bake. Bake them until golden brown, 9 to 10 minutes. Remove from the oven.

Serve. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce. We love honey mustard dressing, BBQ sauce, buffalo sauce, comeback sauce, horseradish sauce, or simply with ketchup or mustard.

Air Fryer Pigs in a Blanket

With the introduction of the air fryer a few years ago, I’ve also been making Air Fryer Pigs in a Blanket on repeat. Here’s how I make them.

Prep. Line your air fryer tray or basket with parchment paper sized to fit the tray or basket. Arrange the pigs in a blanket on the prepared tray or basket, leaving about an inch of space between them for proper air circulation. You may need to cook them in batches, depending on the size of your air fryer.

Cook. Bake at 325º F for 10 to 12 minutes until golden brown and the Crescent roll has cooked and browned throughout. Different air fryers may have different cooking times.

Recipe Variations

  • Cheesy Pigs in a Blanket – Cut slices of your favorite cheese (cheddar, provolone, colby jack are all delicious!) to just smaller than the size of the cocktail sausages. Place the sliced cheese pieces onto the cut Crescent roll triangles, then add the cocktail sausage. Continue with the recipe as written.
  • Pretzel Pigs in a Blanket – We’ve previously shared this well-loved family recipe!
  • Polish Sausage Pigs in a Blanket – Cut slices of your favorite Polish or smoked sausage to about the same size as a cocktail sausage. Proceed with the recipe as written.

Storage Tips

To store leftovers. Cool completely and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

To make ahead. Prep the pigs in a blanket without baking. Cover the baking sheet with plastic wrap in the refrigerator for up to 2 hours. Remove from the refrigerator as the oven preheats. Additional baking time may be needed since they have been refrigerated.

To freeze. Bake and cool the pigs in a blanket completely. Cover with plastic wrap and place the sheet pan filled with the pigs in a blanket in the freezer for 30 minutes for them to flash freeze. Transfer the individually frozen appetizers to a freezer-safe, airtight container and freeze for up to 2 months. To serve, reheat in a 325º F oven for about 15 minutes until heated throughout.
