This easy Caesar Dressing is rich, creamy, and delicious. A restaurant-quality Caesar salad dressing recipe made at home and ready in minutes!

Caesar salad with Caesar dressing and homemade croutons.

Caesar dressing is so quick and easy to make at home and tastes so much better than the store-bought bottled option. It and the crunchy croutons give a Caesar salad all of its amazing flavor.

While traditional Caesar dressing is made with olive oil and raw eggs, my recipe is mayonnaise-based. This makes it super simple to whisk together in minutes, lasts longer in the refrigerator, and allows those with egg sensitivities to enjoy it.

Caesar Dressing Ingredients

Be sure to see the recipe card below for the full listing of ingredients, instructions, notes, and estimated nutritional information.

  • Mayonnaise – My recipe is mayonnaise-based, allowing it to store longer in the refrigerator and making it easier to make. You can also substitute with your favorite Greek yogurt if preferred.
  • Lemon juice – I recommend using fresh lemon juice if possible. The lemon juice brightens the dressing.
  • Anchovy paste – My recipe uses anchovy paste rather than whole anchovy filets. This allows the dressing to whisk together more quickly and easily. If you prefer to use whole anchovy filets, add the anchovy filets and garlic to a food processor to make your own paste. Then, proceed with the recipe. You can omit the anchovy paste or anchovies if you prefer not to include them.
  • Dijon mustard – Adds a slightly tangy bite and depth of flavor to the dressing.
  • Worcestershire sauce – It also adds a depth of flavor to the dressing. Substitute with coconut aminos if sensitive to soy.
  • Seasoning – The recipe calls for fresh garlic, salt, and pepper. You can substitute a teaspoon of Stone House Seasoning (my favorite house seasoning blend!).
  • Parmesan cheese – I add finely shredded Parmesan cheese to my dressing. You can also add more for serving!

Everyone in our house loves the homemade Caesar dressing. I’d like to make a larger amount to keep on hand. How long will it keep in the refrigerator ?

  2. marisa says:

I’ve never made Caesar dressing, what does the anchovy paste do for the dressing? Would I be missing it if I left it out?

    1. Robyn Stone says:

      Hi Marisa,
You can omit if you prefer. It does add a depth of flavor and richness to the dressing similar to what you’ll find in restaurants that make their own dressings in-house. I hope you enjoy it!

I used slightly less than 1 cup of yogurt and 2 anchovy fillets instead of paste (not a fan of paste) and blended in my Ninja. Awesome and super easy!

  4. Diane G. says:

This is very tasty. I used 1/2 cup each mayo and yogurt instead of a full cup. I’m watching my husband scrape the salad bowl with his fingers so he must like it!

Robyn, I LOVE Caesar dressing! Thank you so much for sharing this one. I try to stay away from GMOs and making this at home, is the perfect way to do so! I’ll probably pass on the anchovy paste, but I’m definitely going to make your dressing because I too, love Caesar salads.

You put out the best recipes and I always enjoy reading your comments leading up to your recipes.

this dressing looks so good. do i have to use anchovy paste?

    1. Robyn Stone says:

      Hi Betsy,
You can substitute with an anchovy fillet that has been blended (to make your own paste) if for some reason you can’t find the anchovy paste. You can also omit if you don’t have either on hand at the moment. The anchovy definitely deepens the flavor of the dressing. I highly recommend it when you can!

I made the best chocolate cake for Easter lunch-it is amazing!I also topped it with mini Cadbury eggs for the occasion!
    Your recipes are wonderful!
Cannot wait to try Caesar salad dressing-question- where do you usually find the anchovie paste?
    Thanks, and Happy Easter!

I’m so glad you enjoyed the cake! Love how you topped it for Easter! Such a cute idea! For the anchovy paste, I’ve found it in my local grocery stores on the aisle with the tuna. I will say that it moved a few times in the past and I had to ask customer service to help me locate it. xo
