Buffalo Chicken Dip Recipe
Buffalo Chicken Dip tastes just like the buffalo chicken we all love! This favorite buffalo chicken dip recipe comes together easily in the oven or slow cooker! Enjoy this anytime with both the traditional buffalo chicken dip recipe as well as the slow cooker buffalo chicken dip recipe!
My husband loves buffalo chicken wings like you wouldn’t believe. However, at times I have to admit that they are not my favorite thing in the world to eat at the moment. There are times I just can’t enjoy myself and eat them. Even though the flavors are out of this world delicious!
Sometimes I just don’t like getting all of the stickiness on my fingers as I’m eating them. I constantly feel like I need to get up and wash my hands and then wonder how much of that stuff is all over my face or stuck in my teeth. I get paranoid about messy foods, I guess. One thing that I do make for him that we both can enjoy is this Buffalo Chicken Dip!
Sakes alive is it good!!!
All the flavor and deliciousness of buffalo chicken wings, but without all the mess.
Buffalo Chicken Dip Recipe

This dip really is the best of both worlds!
You really should make it soon.
It will be the hit of your party, get-together, or snack-fest, I promise!
If you are serving a large group, you may want to have enough ingredients on hand to make two of these.
It goes fast!
It’s delicious served with celery sticks, fritos, pita chips, or even tortilla chips!
And when you eat it with celery sticks, you don’t feel nearly as guilty!
How to Make Buffalo Chicken Dip
I’ve included instructions on how I make it in the oven as well as have updated the post to include how I make it in my slow cooker! Talk about a revelation! This Buffalo Chicken Dip is a go-to recipe all year long!
Oven Buffalo Chicken Dip Recipe Method:
Preheat oven. Mix all ingredients, saving 1/2 cup of the shredded cheese and bleu cheese crumbles. Pour into medium baking dish. Sprinkle the 1/2 cup of shredded cheese on top of dip and bake for 15-20 minutes or til bubbly. Remove from oven and sprinkle with bleu cheese crumbles if you are using them. Serve with celery sticks, fritos, pita chips or tortilla chips and enjoy!
Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Dip Recipe Method:
Prepare your slow cooker insert by spraying lightly with non-stick spray. Mix the ingredients exactly as in the oven method, holding the same amount of shredded cheese for the topping of the dip. Pour into the slow cooker insert and top with the remaining shredded cheese and bleu cheese crumbles. Place the lid on the slow cooker and turn on the low or warm setting for up to 4 hours. You can also cook your chicken in the slow cooker, draining any liquid in the insert after chicken is cooked. Shred the cooked chicken with two forks then proceed with the rest of the mixture as directed! So easy and delicious!

Boy that looks good and made my mouth water till I got to the recipe… I don’t like spicy things. Do you think I could replace the hot sauce with BBQ sauce? I do love wings.
I’ve not tried it with BBQ sauce and not sure how all of these measurements would taste. If you try it, do let me know how it tastes with the BBQ replacement. I’ll work on developing a BBQ Chicken Dip for ya for 2012!
Yes you can!! It’s delicious!!
Thanks! I’ve printed the recipe and plan on making it for New Years Eve!
I love hot wings and this sounds WAAAY less messy!! Can’t wait to try it!!
Because I haven’t exhausted myself or my shrinking jeans on hot artichoke dip yet – I think I’ll be adding this beauty to the lineup for NYE!! Any dipped paired with sourdough has my vote!! YUM!! ~Megan
I love buffalo chicken dip! I usually use ranch dressing instead though.
My uncle made the Buffalo Chicken dip on Christmas eve. Needless to say, it didn’t last long. He also used ranch instead of bleu cheese. I’m trying it for NYE and using white cheddar topping instead. Yum yum…Marcia in NC
Love this dip! One of my all time favorites 🙂
I bet this does disappear fast! I’m kind with you on the sticky fingers deal, but they are soooo good.
I love the wings at our local joint, but this dip would be so great for parties. Adding to my To Make list.
Mmmmmmmmm, how I love this dip. We make a similar one, can’t wait to try yours!
no doubt this goes fast! yummmmy!
Oh, wow! Another one to add to my appetizer list. This sounds simply amazing. And, I think that two of my three littles will like it, too. 🙂
I LOVE THIS! I make a simpler version of it (and use ranch instead of blue cheese). Its ALWAYS a fave at parties. and now several of my friends are sharing it with their friends at parties. I love it! My fave is to make some- then eat it for lunch with chips. IT has chicken in it- its good for me, right?
mmm…looks so yummy!!! Wishing I had my own bowl of some right now, you know just to try. Not much 8 cups would do 🙂
I love all of your dip recipes! 🙂
Happy New Year!
Have you tried making it wit ranch dressing instead of bleu cheese? While the hubby loves it no one else is really fond of it but love ranch with their wings. Thanks!
Hi Maggie,
You can easily switch out the bleu cheese with ranch in equal quantities. It tastes delicious with the ranch, too. My husband just prefers the bleu cheese.
Thanks Robyn!
Making this for the big Steelers game today!
My “kids” will love it!
Maggie
Oh man, this looks delicious!!
I’m the same way about mess – it’s to the point where I don’t even like ribs, no matter how succulent they are. Getting sauce all over my face and hands drives me absolutely batty.
You know, another way I avoid the wing sauce fiasco is making buffalo chicken calzones. Give it a try sometime, it’s nom!
Oh yum! I am going to have to give that try. It sounds delicious!

Sounds good to me! I’m also partial to ranch vs bleu cheese. Pinning it to try!!
What a great way to handle the messy hands situation. I know what you mean. Especially if you are eating these
and aren’t at a table. Ick on the furniture. Picture makes this REALLY look good!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is almost too yummy! I want a whole batch to myself!
My neighbor makes something similar and it’s fantastic!! I didn’t even know how easy it is to make!! Perfect game day food.

Such a good dip! My husband always asks me to make it! However, he would eat the whole thing in one sitting!! 🙂 Love it
OMG! i just love buffalo chicken dip. Planing to surprise my Mom and dad at new year eve with my cooking. Thanks for sharing!
Excellent, we make a similar version of football Sundays. Love it.
I make this all the time. Great for football parties and tailgating. I double the recipe and add celery chopped up. Did I mention bottled blue cheese dressing. Yummy and spicy. Make sure to use Frank’s Hot Sauce!
Do you taste the blue cheese in the recipe? Can you alternate with Ranch?
Yes you can. I do not like blue cheese so I use ranch…we all love it!

Great recipe, I definitely like this one more than the others I’ve seen online. Would be great to see an estimated calorie count though because I can’t stop eating it!
This is just the recipe I wanted to find now.that football season is here. I’m with you, I have a hard time enjiying chicken wings – chicken skin is gross! But I love the flavors. This recipe will definitely be in my menu soon.
for the buffalo chicken dip, can it be served at room temp once it’s been cooked. thinking of taking to a party, but won’t have a way to keep it oven hot
Hi Lori,
If at all possible, I would recommend keeping the dip warm at least until just before you serve it since it has dairy products and poultry in the dip. Could you make the slow cooker version and then just keep it warm that way until right before serving?
Great recipe and I love it,my family loves too! Thanks Robin
Looks so yummy, Robyn! And perfect timing for late season baseball games, and pre-season football getting started! 🙂
Thank you!
Great recipe for my weekend party happening on this weekend. Hope I will not make a mess ‘cos the kids are waiting for full of surprises. Thanks for shearing this one
What do you think about using this as a pizza topping? Buffalo Chicken Pizza????
Absolutely delicious! xo
Mmm…This dip sounds delicious!
Yum yum yummy in my tummy thanks for sharing this great recipe.
So happy you enjoyed it, Treas! Thanks!
AMAZING!
This dip is absolutely delicious and addictive! The only suggestion I would make is to wait until the last 5-8 minutes to add the remaining 1/2 cup of shredded cheese. I found that leaving it on for the entire cook time made it rather tough and chewy. Other than that, fantastic! 👍🏻
Glad you enjoyed it Patty! xo
I had never made buffalo dip before so I was a little nervous going in, but this was so easy to make and SO yummy! I added a little less ranch and a little more hot sauce to mine to give it more heat, but it was amazing. Thank you for this recipe!!
So glad to hear that Ariana! xo
This was so easy to make and was excellent!
I prepared the Buffalo Chicken Dip along with the Cocktail Meatballs (also from this site) yesterday to take to a SEC football game party. Since I did not plan in advance to cook the chicken in the crockpot, I poached 2 chicken breasts, cooled and shredded then proceeded with the recipe. I had more than 1 cup of shredded chicken so I added a little more cream cheese and shredded cheddar cheese but stayed with the same amount of blue cheese dressing (Marie’s Chunky Blue Cheese Dressing). I also prepared the accompanying Buffalo Sauce recipe using Franks Red Hot Sauce. I started with 3/4 cup sauce per the recipe but ended up adding the entire recipe of the Buffalo Sauce to the dish before baking. In hindsight, I would probably not add extra cheddar to the chicken mixture next time. Between what I added to the chicken mixture and what I added to the top, I used about 3/4 of a block of extra sharp cheddar cheese. The dip was a bit oily on top from the cheddar. I baked it in a quiche dish and topped only half with the blue cheese crumbles and served with celery sticks, tortilla chips, and scoops. Thank you Robyn for a tasty & easy recipe for a fun afternoon of college football.
I can’t imagine there’s someone who can’t stand this creamy cheesy dip! It has been my staple for ages xD

We love it. Just made our second batch
Hi, I LOOOOVE this dip! But i was just wondering what size is one serving? THANKS!
