Homemade Taco Seasoning Recipe

Homemade Taco Seasoning Recipe from addapinch.com

We love tacos. Hard shell, soft shell, stand up shell, not a stand up shell – it really doesn’t matter. But one thing that I just don’t like to buy are those little packets of taco seasoning. I know, they are easy to use and fast, but I much prefer to make my own taco seasoning.

It’s just too simple to make not to.

And I know exactly what’s in it.

And it is so easy to make up a couple of batches and keep it on hand for a super quick, weeknight supper.

Once you make it yourself, you definitely will want to.

Here’s how I make it.

Toss all of your ingredients into a bowl and give it a whisk.

Then, just sprinkle a few teaspoons over your meat as you normally would when making your tacos.

Adjust the amount to your family’s personal preference and dig in!

I have been doing this for a few years now, and I LOVE it!! The packets have so much salt, this is not only better for you, but it’s cheaper, too!

  2. 2

I have to admit I usually cheat and use the packet but a post like this comes along and reminds me I should mix some of my own and store it in a jar for later use. I’ve never used cornstarch before in my mixes though.

You can omit the cornstarch if you’d prefer, but I like to use it to thicken as it cooks into the meat.

Thank you so much for sharing this. I make something that requires taco seasoning at least once a week. I think I’ll make a batch of this right now.

I’m so glad it is a recipe you can use! We use it a good bit, too! There’s nothing like a quick taco for lunch or supper or even a taco salad. I hope you enjoy it!

I love this idea! I just made some taco seasoning but it was slightly different than yours and didn’t have cornstarch. Does that just make it thicker or stick better?

You can omit the cornstarch if you’d prefer to not have it in there. I like to add it to thicken as it cooks into the meat. Let me know how you like it!

What a great idea! This is a good thing to have on hand.

I usually buy the packs of taco seasoning, but it’s so much more economical making it yourself! I’ll be trying your recipe next time we have tacos!

Ummm! Looks nice and yummy. Wish I could just bite that toco..

I have been meaning to find myself a recipe for taco seasoning, one that someone I know loves, because it kills me to buy it premade (and surprise, surprise, most of them have added wheat!). Thanks Robyn this is going to be my new go to.
